The leadership team at the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) chose WBRC to provide concept designs to transform its existing library into an innovative new setting. The intent is to provide a focal point for the proficiency-based approach that the university has begun to implement into its pedagogy.
Use of glass walls, including a new curtain wall entrance, keeps the space open, while facilitating small groups to meet with acoustic separation. A harmonious mix of fabrics, warm color palette, and comfortable, moveable furnishings make the atmosphere modern, flexible, and welcoming. Redefined spaces include collaborative meeting areas, food service area, museum, an IT help station.
WBRC provided UMPI with fundraising-quality rendered images of the space plan, as well as finish materials plan, furniture groupings and placement ideas, and color suggestions.
