Working with EMCC leadership, WBRC revised the prior campus plan of Eastern Maine Community College to include a pedestrian quadrangle enhancing the arrival experience and the relationship between existing residential and academic spaces. Highlights of this campus plan included 550-space satellite student parking, visitor parking and drop-off, improved pedestrian circulation, water quality treatment pond, stormwater management planning for development of additional buildings, and master permitting.
For this update, WBRC prepared a Site Location of Development Permit for all post-1975 development on the campus, and continues to provide permit modifications for additional campus improvements. The site is located in a DEP-designated Urban Impaired Stream watershed (Penjajawoc).
Plans for future expansion include sites for student housing, family housing, faculty offices, student service center, library/dining area expansion, and an academic building.
The recent addition of EMCC’s Public Safety Training Center, made possible through the acquisition and renovation of a former retail property adjacent to the existing campus, is a recent example of the college’s continuing to grow to meet the demand for its high-quality, affordably-priced programs. The new training center was designed by WBRC.
The WBRC team is currently working with the EMCC leadership team on an update of its Master Plan.
