Robie Andrews Hall Renovations

Gorham, ME

Location(s): 39 University Way, Gorham

Client: University of Southern Maine

Robie Hall, completed in 1898, and Andrews Hall (originally known as East Hall), first occupied in 1918, represent significant historic buildings that contribute to the University of Southern Maine Gorham Campus National Register Historic District. USM commissioned WBRC to prepare a scope of work for the exterior restoration of the two connected residence halls. The Phase I scope of work included restoration of the elaborate slate and copper roof of Andrews Hall, and the selective restoration of the masonry walls of both buildings.

Work on these two buildings also included the rehabilitation of interior spaces occupied by the Art Department, the design of a new Andrews Hall north entrance/vestibule for the Art Department, and restoration of the wood floor of the Burnham Lounge in Robie Hall. All work was respectfully executed to harmonize with the historic character of both buildings.
