Joshua Crofton-Macdonald Promoted to Senior Associate

WBRC is excited to announce that Structural Engineer Joshua Crofton-Macdonald, P.E., has been promoted to Senior Associate by unanimous vote of its Board of Directors.

Over his six years with WBRC, Josh has contributed to projects in all four of WBRC’s design studios—Education, Healthcare, Civic, and Commercial—bringing thoughtful engineering and reliable leadership to each assignment. He is known for his calm problem-solving style and strong technical instincts, consistently helping project teams move from complexity to clarity.

“Josh brings diligence and creativity to every project he touches,” says Stephanie Laplant, Chief Operating Officer. “He has been a true leader in our Associates group, spearheading our recent employee survey and helping the ExCom team keep moving forward on implementing staff suggestions. Josh also has a great sense of humor that helps keep things light even on the busiest days. I can’t wait to see what he accomplishes in the months and years ahead.”

Colleagues describe Josh as steady, insightful, and generous with his knowledge—someone who looks for the best solution, not the easiest one. He is known for his patience, attention to detail, and positive way of interacting with everyone on the project team.

“Josh’s promotion to Senior Associate is a direct result of the impact he’s making across the firm,” says Ray Bolduc, WBRC CEO. “His dedication, judgment, and professionalism reflect the kind of leadership needed for a 124-year-old firm like WBRC to continue to thrive.”

Joshua Crofton-Macdonald graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering. He earned an M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine and is currently part of UMaine’s Ph.D. program. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Maine, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, and Florida. He is a member of SEAM, the Structural Engineers Association of Maine and a graduate of the Bangor Region Leadership Institute (BRLI).

As a Structural Engineer, Josh’s responsibilities involve the assessment, analysis, and design of building structural systems consisting of structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber. He also performs fieldwork including field investigation, condition assessment, and load rating and reinforcement of existing structures.

His recent work at WBRC spans several sectors. Education projects include University of Maine facilities such as Morse Arena and the Shawn Walsh Center/Alfond Hockey Arena Renovation. Josh is a client champion for the U.S. Postal Service, with projects all across New England. He also serves retail clients such as Hannaford, and many municipalities throughout Maine.
