WBRC Promotes New Associates: Guethle, Hardy, Melzer, and Michaud

WBRC has promoted four of its design professionals to Associate.

At WBRC, Associates are individuals who consistently demonstrate strong judgment, reliability, initiative, and a commitment to improving both their work and the firm as a whole. WBRC is stronger because of their efforts, and we’re excited to see them continue to help move us forward.”

 

Michael Guethle, PE, Promoted to WBRC Firm Associate

Michael Guethle, P.E., is a WBRC Civil Engineer and Department Manager with over 15 years of experience in site design, stormwater management, linear utilities, environmental permitting, and urban development. Michael leads WBRC’s Civil Engineering Department and serves clients in the firm’s education, healthcare, civic, and commercial sectors. His diverse project experience includes site development, grading plans, utility design, roadway design, as well as permitting and construction oversight.

Michael Guethle graduated from Clarkson University with a B.S. in Environmental Engineering and Civil Engineering. He is a past president of the Maine Water Environmental Association (MEWEA) and continues to serve MEWEA as the Awards Committee Chair. He is an active community volunteer, serving as a Scouting America Scoutmaster and a member of multiple service fraternities in the area, including the Bath and Portland Masons as well as the Lewiston Shriners Band. A Maine-licensed Professional Engineer, Michael serves clients across New England and beyond from WBRC’s Portland office.

 

Brandon Hardy, PE, Promoted to WBRC Firm Associate

Brandon Hardy, P.E., is a Mechanical Engineer with more than 15 years of experience designing mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Brandon specializes in code review, energy savings improvements, sizing HVAC and process equipment, and 3D modeling. While he works across all four WBRC studios, he has focused expertise in healthcare and housing. His responsibilities include design, developing project objectives and schedules, conducting design review meetings, construction administration, and project close-out.

Brandon earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine in Orono. He is certified by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), is a Maine-licensed Professional Engineer, and is licensed in several other states, including Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.

Ariana Melzer, NCIDQ, Promoted to WBRC Firm Associate

Ariana Melzer is a Certified Interior Designer specializing in programming, space planning, and selection of furnishings, finishes, and equipment for the education, healthcare, civic, and commercial sectors.

Ariana earned a Master of Arts in Interior Architecture from Suffolk University in Boston, MA. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is certified as a Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) and is a Certified Interior Designer in Maine and Florida.

Ariana serves on the Board of Directors of the Maine Interior Design Association (MIDA).

 

Toby Michaud, PE, Promoted to WBRC Firm Associate

Toby Michaud, P.E., is a Licensed Professional Engineer with over two decades of experience in multiple engineering disciplines. He started in the pulp and paper industry and has worked as both a civil and mechanical engineer. As a Senior Civil Engineer at WBRC, he focuses on site development, site design, stormwater management, permitting, and overseeing bidding and construction.

Toby earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine and a B.A. in Behavioral Sciences from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Maine and New Hampshire, as well as a licensed Mechanical Engineer in Massachusetts and Florida. He is a member of the Maine Chapter of ASCE, American Society of Civil Engineers, and the NSPE, National Society of Professional Engineers.
