Maine’s Bureau of General Services selected WBRC to assess the 100-year-old Engineering Building on the former AMHI campus, and to work with its current and future occupants to design renovations that would make it a more effective, energy efficient workplace.

The process began with an assessment of the physical conditions of the building, including architectural systems, ADA accessibility, life safety/code compliance, structural systems, and mechanical and electrical systems, as well as a comprehensive envelope analysis by project partner Building Envelope Specialists. This assessment, field measurements, and base drawings gave the team an up-to-date picture of the building’s issues, as well as revealing its potential.

WBRC then worked with representatives from Maine Conversation Corps and Maine State Parks to develop a comprehensive program associated with the needs of these future building occupants.
