Size: 1,480 acres

Following the BRAC closure of Brunswick Naval Air Station (NAS Brunswick), a local redevelopment authority was charged with developing a reuse plan for the base. WBRC was retained by Matrix Design Group to assist in the base realignment process and plan use master planning.

WBRC subsequently retained Ekistics Planning and Design of Halifax, NS to assist in developing a follow-up study, commissioned by Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority. The resulting community design guidelines for site, land use, and architecture included recommendations for developing sustainable, walkable neighborhoods, and flexible commerce options.

More recently, WBRC was retained by Wright-Pierce to assist in the develop of Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority’s TechPlace, a shared workspace and prototype development space for entrepreneurs in aviation, biotech, composites, renewable energy, and IT.
