What do you do when the most desirable area of your spectacular water-view site is occupied by an older two-story wood framed hotel? You go up and over it.
Using specialized piles and steel framing, two additional floors were added over the existing hotel, with the majority of the construction concentrated during the closed winter months. At the client’s request, the pool area design took its inspiration from the youth-restoring swimming pool in the movie Cocoon. WBRC was responsible for concept and schematic design, local approvals, and structural engineering. When fire destroyed the renovated hotel, a near-identical property was built in its place.
