A new exterior skin and interior redesign for the 30+ year-old anchor property at Bangor International Airport (BGR) created a streamlined appearance and improved building energy efficiency and guest room acoustics — all with continued occupancy of 103 rooms during construction.
A first-floor infill, expansion of a new pool, fitness center, conference rooms, guest lobby, eight new ninth-floor guest rooms, technology upgrades, and accessibility improvements throughout brought this landmark up to new hospitality standards. The electrical savings alone due to a new energy efficient shell was 34% compared to pre-renovation usage. The resulting 111-room hotel has a new level of curb appeal in its strategic location directly adjacent to BGR’s Arrivals Building.
WBRC provided architectural and code review support, development of design documentation, and construction administration for this important “relaunch” project.
