Wenona’s Place I and II provides affordable housing for families and elderly residents on Indian Island. Each building offer eight units for a total of 16 units. The project also included placement of an emergency generator to accommodate the needs of the two structures. This was accomplished by connecting the buildings to a new transformer, allowing one generator to efficiently serve two residences.
Wenona’s Place II was created through a partnership between the Penobscot Nation, Rural Development, and others. The building was financed through a $1 million Section 515 Rural Rental Housing Loan by USDA Rural Development.
